I've Heard A Lot Of Complaints About Tyson Fury's Gloves
Are those boxing gloves approved by the British Boxing Board of Control? Francis Ngannou has something to say about that.
Recently appearing as a guest on "The JRE MMA Show," Ngannou (0-0 in boxing, 17-3, 5 KO in MMA) alleged that there was possibility that his opponent, Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KO in boxing), may have tampered with the padding in past fights. Said Ngannou, "He's very tricky with his glove. I think he's cheating. I've heard a lot of complaints about his gloves, that his gloves have no protection," claiming that past Fury opponents Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora both complained about potential lack of padding in what would be normally a regulation ten ounce boxing glove.
"All the gloves get to be checked," Ngannou continued. "If you want us to fight bareknuckle, let's go bareknuckle, but don't give me ten ounce gloves, and he wears eight- or six-ounce gloves because he [Fury] has no protection.
Rogan did counteroffer that Fury's "flinging" style of punching could give the appearance of less padding, which Ngannou did acknowledge, but then reiterated his point that all gloves with receive extra scrutiny to avoid a tampering scandal.
